The 2018 Halo World Championship season begins this weekend with the first event of the year taking place in Orlando. Infused Halo have been drawn into group A, alongside Splyce and Mentality. Let’s take a closer look at the group.
Splyce – Stellur, Eco, Renegade, Shottzy
Since their third place finish at Dreamhack Denver, Splyce have replaced bubu dubu and Shooter with Stellur and Eco joining the team. The team have challenged reigning world champions, OpTic Gaming in several online tournaments and occasionally taking them down. It will definitely be a tricky task for the boys in red to take down the North American powerhouse but it is set to be a great contest between the two teams.
Mentality – SoulSnipe, Kaiss, Manny, Druk
The North American side of Mentality have impressed with consistent top eight placements in the online 2K tournaments leading up to MLG Orlando. They will be looking to make it out of the group but I think that it will be a challenge when they face Infused and Splyce. It will certainly be interesting to see how they perform and they could well cause an upset.
Team Infused – Mose, Kimbo, Jimbo, Respectful
Heading into the tournament with the top European seed, the Red Army will be looking to improve on their top six finish from Dreamhack Denver. Having won three of the five 2K tournaments, Infused are looking to make it out of the group and have another great performance on the big stage.
Depending on which open bracket team they draw, the boys in red could have a challenge on their hands this weekend.
MLG Orlando kicks off on Friday the 16th of February as the world's best Halo teams will battle it out for a share of $50,000
