Dunc Looks at the AOC e2343F2 Monitor

For nearly four years now, I’ve been using the Samsung SyncMaster B2330. It’s a 23” 60Hz monitor which generally received excellent reviews and was good value for money. As well as being an incredibly keen gamer, I work with colour and graphics for a living. My background is web development, but I’ve moved on to graphic design and branding. Having used the Samsung for such a long time, I never stopped to think about changing monitors. However, when I first used this AOC e2343F2 monitor at i45, I realised that I’d been missing out on a different level of quality. Don’t get me wrong, the Samsung is a good monitor, but in my opinion the AOC blows it away. Its colour definition is fantastic, and that’s far from all. Its LED technology affords the monitor a massive contrast rate of 50,000,000:1. That’s right – 50 million to 1. When you get in game, the colours this monitor produces – as well as the blacks – are quite unbelievable. So sharp, so detailed. If you’re like me, and you actually enjoy watching the games you play, you’ll love this monitor.  In my hurry to describe just how excellent this monitor is while it’s on, I’ve skipped past its physical aesthetics. At less than 13 millimetres wide, the viewing area of the monitor is one of the slimmest on the market. I was using the white-based version, which looked excellent amongst my mix of black hardware and white peripherals.  If you’re a FPS player, chances are you’ll want a 120Hz monitor – or at least you’ll have been told by the pros that you need one. Although I occasionally agree, I believe that the AOC e2343F2 offers incredible quality for those of you that don’t want to make the huge payment jump to 120Hz. If you have any interest in high-detail games of any genre, or you simply like your workspace to look good, this is certainly the monitor for you.
